Each beautifully decorated room has its own theme, showcasing Christmas the way it was once celebrated.

Experience some of the oldest Christmas traditions, including the custom of sleeping on straw on the floor on Christmas Eve. Feel the holiday magic in the Dirch Jansen Room, inspired by classic Danish Christmas tales such as Højt fra træets grønne top and Peters Jul. A glowing Christmas tree stands proudly in the room, crowned by a cheeky Christmas elf. Have you spotted all the sweet treats hidden in the branches?

Curious how the Swedish maid Alma has decorated her little room? Spin the “lucky wheel” and discover a local Christmas story hanging on the tree.

Elf trail for children

The museum’s Christmas elf has lost all his clothes and is now hiding—completely bare and very hard to find! Can you help him track down his missing outfit and make sure Christmas can truly begin?

Remember to look out for the green strings along the way.
